Altered Zones

You may know Konx-Om-Pax as the title of a 1907 essay compilation by British occultist Aleister Crowley; it's also the nom de plume of Glasgow digitital artist Tom Scholefield, who has done videos and album art work for the likes of Oneohtrix Point Never, Laurel Halo, and Jaime Lidell, and helped define the visual aesthetics of Warp, DFA, No Fun Productions, Universal Everything, and Optimo Espacio. Scholefield recently released a debut LP of his own electronic sound experiments, appropriately dubbed Light Extension (a rough translation of "Konx Om Pax") and featuring this unlikely, loop-based collaboration between himself, Halo, and Mogwai guitarist Stuart Braithwaite. Visit The Wire to stream a second track from the album, which is the first of three limited edition releases planned for this year, and comes lovingly pacakaged with art by Scholefield and Edwin Pickstone via Scholefield's own Display Copy imprint.
