Off Balance Atlas curates Sample Based Life Vol. 1

It seems like matthewdavid just can't sit still. When he isn't busy making his own sunnyside, glitch-heavy music as AZ reported yesterday, he is eagerly plugging endeavors like the Sample Based Life project, spear-headed by Off Balance Atlas. The idea, cited as "a project that has no borders," encourages artists to turn the microscope on themselves, allowing fellow producers to reinterpret their samples and use them to create something new. AZ favorites Sumsun take us towards the pulsating and spaced-out on "Non-Menthol Dub," while Dog Bite, who also lent his voice to the matthewdavid track "International," veer into electro-rock territory, carried by an industrial beat. --Daniel Gottlieb

Sample Based Life Volume 1 is available for a 'name your price' download. Any donation of $8-10 gets a physical copy of the tape handmade by Off Balance Atlas himself. You can also hear the original source material on SoundCloud, or track the continuing progress of the project at the blogspot.
