That Ghost: "Calls"

It took me nearly 20 listens to finally get the essence of this track by Califronia's That Ghost: the slow croon. "Calls" is hardly a linear narrative, but its stoned, slacker crawl provides catharsis whether you want it to or not. Ryan Schmale's one-man band (don't fret: there are four of them live) may be named after an Abbot & Costello movie, but it's bound to provoke comparisons to Austin outfit Pure X (Pure Ecstasy)-- despite being a tad more hi-fi.
