Thrill Jockey recently announced a final repressing of Luck In The Valley by legendary raga-folk guitarist Jack Rose, released posthumously last year after his untimely death in December, 2009. Named after a code term for procuring illicit services in the old red light section of St. Louis, Rose's final full-length was a tribute to pre-war blues and the three-track shack recordings of classic American country acts like Mordicai Jones and the Wray Brothers. Each of the album's ten tracks spotlights the spontaneous innovations and happy accidents that can arise while recording in a series live takes; the stunning "Woodpiles On The Side Of The Road", below, was actually captured on the first try.
