VisionAir’s "Totem" opens with a sine function of a melody sliding between channels, creating a mountainous backdrop-- all orange phosphor vector lines-- for the inveigling bass line: drawing us into a minimal world of syrup-slow House. Celestial in the sense of travelling through a vacuum, the sound of your own propulsion suffocated in the void, yet the angelic cosmos passing by at varying levels of dizzying speed. It all seems so calm, yet the evidence of the technology required to get us here is all around. Chi-house and early Detroit techno flourishes abound but – in "Totem" space – they dominate the static laden drums until, without fanfare, the universe vanishes. (via 20 Jazz Funk Greats)
"Totem" is taken from their Autumn EP, which is available free from their Soundcloud
