Tomutonttu is the solo project of Kemialliset Ystavat's Jan Anderzen. Jan has been a key figure in the Finnish underground for the past 10 years, releasing most of his recent albums on Fonal Records. "Likaiset Pilvet" starts off with a hyper-speed computer tunnel warp. Beeps and percussive space-textures propel the track at rocket speed, then halt abruptly with a shrieking wave and evolve into a classic Tomutonttu collage of vocal loops, drum beats, cassette cuts, and alien noise. We discover ourselves in a universe of artificial creature sounds before Jan cuts each noise away, ending with a minimal key'd loop. Hip hop from another planet?
