James Blackshaw: "Part 7"

For the past five years, Britain's James Blackshaw has been and garnering favorable comparisons to John Fahey and Sandy Bull and honing his compositional guitar craft with releases on a variety of international underground labels (Celebrate Psi Phenomenon, Digitalis, Kning Disk). Now firmly ensconced on Michael Gira's highly regarded Young God, Blackshaw delivers his most sonically diverse recording yet with All Is Falling. Starring an electric guitar-- a first for a Blackshaw record-- the excerpt below showcases his knack for splitting the difference between technical sophistication and deep expressivity, filling the room with something dense and melancholic.
