The Report V.II is a multi-media package (book + audio compilation + video compilation) that examines our tendencies and infatuations, from typeface, to virtual lives, to false manipulations, to agrammatical essays, to screw remixes, to hyperlinks...it’s all here. The genus of The Report comes from the web– a fruitful, seemingly endless, garden of fascinatiing delights. Inside you’ll find GChat conversations with Dan Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never, Games), text by Cameron Stallones (Sun Araw), audio and video pieces by Laurel Halo, an in-depth interview with new-age innovator Iasos, a collection of poems by Nate Grace (Pure Ecstasy), and a massive art gallery curated by .jpg/.mov wunderkind Christian “Megazord” Oldham. The Report V.II also features the second installment of Field Notes, an on-going collaboration between visual artist and musician Camilla Padgitt-Coles and Altered Zones/Visitation Rites editor Emilie Friedlander. Unfortunately, Brandon McCarthy, better known as @LILBTHEBASEDGOD, was too busy flooding Twitter with nonsequitors to chat with White Rainbow. (Not mad though, shout out #BASEDGOD.)
The goal with this edition was to break through the barriers of the digital sphere and present ideas formed on the web in a physical format far removed from the black/white/grey boxes we slave behind daily. With a tape compilation for Walkmen (R.I.P.) and car stereos, a Digital Video Disc ripe for your Triniton, and a book as suited for the morning commute, as it is an Ivy League library or the John, there isn't a situation you could find yourself in that doesn't warrant a copy of The Report V.II. That said, take a peak at "Trance Action," an amazing clip by Alice Cohen, featured on the DVD, zonk out to this Chuck Person's Fleetwood Mac remix, then help make The Report V.II a reality on Kickstarter. A contribution of $25 gets you the entire package, while all donation's receive an instant download of the compilation. Pledge here. (via Chocolate Bobka)
