Tropical Malady is an entrancing “sound experiment” from France/Belgium’s Je Suis Le Petit Chevalier, intended as a “haunting auditorial interpretation” of Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s 2004 film. These definitely aren’t songs per se, but blurred, eerily ominous ambient soundscapes that work best in the context of the whole tape, drifting between oddly soothing and totally unsettling.
