With releases under Mirror Universe, Clan Destine, Cats Purring, Fire Talk, and soon Group Tightener, Mississippi's Dead Gaze has had a pretty busy year. Dead Gaze's brand of compressed synth croonings even made New York Times look twice. Since Ryan at Mirror Universe first turned me on to them by making "I'm A Mess When You Are Gone" the first track on International Tapes' very first mixtape, the song has been in daily rotation. --Ric Leichtung, International Tapes
