Though there's little known about those behind the sundrenched, sample-based sounds of Sunsquints, the two songs they've released thus far show immense promise. "Basque" opens with a sample of a Missouri inmate's description of the hierarchy he created in prison, layered atop growing bass, slowly bursting into a lush blend of reverby vocals and synthetic textures. The vocals feel distant, as if the sound waves are trapped in chambers of the sun, left there to bask for days on end. In this style of sun-saturated synth-pop, it's hard not to make comparisons to Basque Country natives Delorean-- never a bad thing. There's no word on an official release, but if you like what you hear, you can click here to listen to another track, "Machu Picchu."
