Phantom Payn Days: "Paradox Box"

Phantom Payn Days is the solo project of out rock iconoclast and 39 Clocks member Juergen Gleue, a forgotten hero of latter-day (or early ’80s) krautrock. In “Paradox Box”, Gleue takes us back to the Pandora myth, here accompanied by the muted visuals of artist Tara Sinn, who has also done videos for Blues Control and Mike Bones. Gleue’s thickly accented, matter-of-fact vocals wander a desert-scape of acoustic guitar and after-hours blues solos, telling the story of a box that seems ordinary enough on the outside, but holds the power to throw the world off course. It certainly is ominous, but it kind’ve makes us want to “take a walk inside and get an electric shock.” (via Visitation Rites)
