Frog Eyes/Swan Lake member Carey Mercer has announced his second solo release for Dead Oceans as Blackout Beach, wholesomely entitled "Fuck Death," in homage to a Leon Golub painting. Mercer describes the album as a collection of "deserter's songs, coward's songs," so the seemingly infinite repetition of the lyric, "run away," feels at home in the center of the enigmatic opening track, "Beautiful Burning Desire." --Matt Sullivan, Altered Zones
