Altered Zones

The folks over at Small Plates Records just hooked us up with a drop from their upcoming 10" Trouble EP from Supreme Cuts. At the start of the month, they gave us the beautiful non-album cut, "Jacy," and much like that track, "Fools" smoothly lays various vocal samples across an elegant dance beat. Things get a little heavier as the piece continually builds and rises, almost as if we're being teased every time our feet really start moving. Just past the half-way point, its pace slows while swarms of dark synths and ceaseless snare pops rush forward. Finally, in the last minute the 'Cuts gain momentum as pitched vocals and upbeat claps punch into synthesized delicacy. --Jheri Evans, Get Off The Coast

The Trouble EP drops tomorrow, August 30, via Small Plates. You can go ahead and cop the pre-order here, with the first 100 copies on opaque pink vinyl, plus the first 50 orders will also receive a handmade, hand-numbered copy of Supreme Cuts Edits Vol. 2.
