Pharaohs is the latest addition to LA weird disco stable 100% Silk. Like many artists from the NNF imprint, they have an affinity for pitch-shifted vocals awash in languorous reverb. Channeling pure '80s disco vibes, the name seems like an undeniable nod to hip-hop cornball Egyptian Lover, an integral figure in the LA dance music and rap scene. In this Ben Shearn-directed video for the cut, hypnotic neon swirls overlap with images of slow-moving ravers in hilariously bad outfits. It's cheesy, it's gooey, it's good. --Jasmine Zhu, Altered Zones
