Matthew Friedberger: "The Comforts of the Coffin"

Having explored the piano, guitar, and harp thus far in his Solos LP series for Thrill Jockey, Matthew Friedberger turns to percussion (and singing) for the fourth installment, Cut it Out. "The Comforts of the Coffin," below, utilizes a varied palette of acoustic and electronic percussion, harmonized vocals, and free-form singspiel into a softly mutating mosaic, proving the ludicrously prolific Friedberger to be as unpredictable as ever. --Matt Sullivan, Altered Zones
