Having created the ultimate beatscape for interstellar travel in 2000's double album Saints of Infinity/Simulated D.I.Y., Sientific American's C Andrew Rohrmann retreated a bit (well, more than a bit) from the front lines of record making/releasing into the murkier waters of music production and audio work for film and advertisements, in the process depriving the world of much in the way of followup releases. Thus it was quite exciting to hear the news that he has regrouped and returned to writing the kind of transcendental head swooners that brought him to the world's attention in the first place, only under the names scntfc and Burn A Pale Fire.
"Below the White Bluffs" is in its way the perfect merger of Rohrmann's work in both the sampleadelic/funky beat realm and the ultra blissed out driftwork that turns ones head immediately to the sky... Snaking its rhythms through The Compressor At The Edge Of The Universe and sealing the deal with heartbreakingly fractured melodic samples, it's clear that Rohrmann's muses have started a discussion that can only lead... spaceward. The Hanford Reach e.p. is currently available via the scntfc Bandcamp page. Intrigued listeners are also encouraged to check out his mass.dstrction mix series, which smash together much of the greatest in beat based and ambient music into 30 minute shards of amazing. --Arturo Darvishire, Altered Zones
