Sweet Bulbs' weird-pop anthem "Kissing Clouds" is a song saddled in nonsensical emotion, which its video portrays pretty well. Brett Marren's animation for the 2010 single starts out with a cartoon-bird flapping his wings, charging towards us, surrounded by a vibrant, neon blue sky. Then he poops, and his poop turns into a loosely sketched couple who jive and flip around. Someone eats them, and soon we are under the sea. A dolphin swims by, retreating to a small house, where I believe he shoots heroin, falls down dead, and is eaten by a swarm of insects, then a hamburgler-creature slurps up his remains with a straw, and eventually we are in a clay-mated other-world with sugarcube stairs and subtle masonic imagery. It all ends with a psychedelic skull figure looking tormented. How's that for trippy? As Inna Mkrtycheva sings herself, "It doesn't make no sense." --Jenn Pelly, Altered Zones via Pelly Twins
