In a return to their industrial punk roots, L.A.'s Knight Rider have been dishing up spaced-out bummer jams that arrive at your ears on the tail of a comet. This time, that comet is striking the Earth head-on. You won't need a bunker and years of bottled water to survive this one, though-- just a pair of dancing shoes. Surely, the combination of deathly screams, disco beats, low-key rap, and synth lines is a formula many internet dwellers are familiar with. "Parasite Emblem" is more like a Jesus and Mary Chain take on crunkcore, but I'll understand if you think I'm a terrible, terrible person for making such a culturally unacceptable comparison. Then again, reputable underground tastemakers Aquarius Records recently sung the praises of New Mexico's Brokencyde, everybody's favorite act to hate. I digress. Knight Rider's punk homecoming is not without lessons learned from their adventures in the bliss zone. There's a smoothness to all the elements here that ensures dancability for all-- even the truly schlazed. (Via 20 Jazz Funk Greats)
