Patrick Riley of Tennis says:
Split Enz
is a band that never had much of an impact on the US, at least not as much as in their own backyards in New Zealand. They kind of fell apart in the mid-80s (its founding members went on to form the more successful Crowded House), but nonetheless, they made some super fancy new wave shit. We are suckers for the sea. This song happens to combine two really great feelings that we endorse: arpeggiators and adventurous sentiments. The arpeggiators climax with a perfect 80s guitar solo that will bring you to your knees and remind you of how Grandaddy's The Sophtware Slump came about. The vocals blend together with the underlying synths to produce some pretty great harmonic overtones. Listen to this loud and you'll know. Finally, we literally spent a little over 6 months on a leaky boat. And yes, when I was a young boy, I wanted to sail around the world. I still do.

MP3: Split Enz: "Six Months in a Leaky Boat"

Time and Tide is out of print, but this song is available on most Split Enz compilations via Amazon and iTunes
