Jürgen Müller: "Sea Bed Meditation"

When your parents were getting hazed in college and watching "Animal House", Jürgen Müller lead a more withdrawn lifestyle as an oceanic science student. While conducting research on his house boat by the North Sea, Müller was struck with musical inpiration. In 1979, he built a mobile studio on the vessel and began to compose Science of the Sea, a 35-minute album that aimed to capture the mystery and romance of the marine. In 1982, the finally recorded work saw an extremely limited release of less than 100 copies, but has since quietly situated itself as a shining example of homebrewed early '80s new age, exploring the connections between man, nature, and spirituality through music. --Ric Leichtung, International Tapes
