Chicago's Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross is a cryptic project, but while remaining anonymous has become a popular means of encouraging listeners to focus more on music than persona, the recent release of DG&RC's debut album, Blow, proves that there's more behind the name than good marketing tactics. At six songs in length, the album abounds with airy vocals, pulsating drums, and lush, natural samples. Opening with isolated piano keys and a soft vocal harmony that quickly disappears below screams and static, the album alternates effortlessly between light and dark. The sun shines in the upbeat "White Sun," which you can download below, and slowly sets on "Black Sun," which comes as a bonus track with the album. (via The Road Goes Ever On)
