AZ's very own Jack Shankly, also the man behind Transparent and new Domino imprint Weird World, has been talking for weeks about Domino Radio, a label-run, pop-up radio station that kicks off today with DJ and talk appearances by Arctic Monkey's Matt Helders and Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford. Designed "in the spirit of such stand-alone broadcasting giants as Radio Caroline, John Peel Show, Rinse FM, The World Service and Woman's Hour," this six-day, free-form radio experiment will feature spots by Ford & Lopatin, How To Dress Well, Fatima Al Qadiri, Laurel Halo, Leyland Kirby/The Caretaker, Sun Araw, Tri Angle Records, Robert Wyatt, and Liquid Liquid, among others; even Simon Reynolds will be there.
