Jamin Orrall of JEFF The Brotherhood says:
I bought Irma Thomas' In Between Tears LP for five bones at a bummer record shop in Chicago when I was in my first semester of college. I was feeling really swampy and insecure and uncomfortable in the city, and it was moldy and beat up, but I'd heard the name and I liked the cover. I took it home and "In Between Tears" became one of my favorite songs of all time; the record became one of my favorite albums of all time. This song evokes so many feelings and memories for me: so many good nights, comfortable, swaying, warm, hanging with friends. Irma Thomas has an amazing voice, and the instrumentation is so simple and hard. Please download it from a file sharing website and listen with friends.
