DJ Nate's first full-length album Da Trak Genious doesn't drop until September, but earlier this month Planet Mu dropped the Hatas Our Motivation 12", which has been on constant MP3 spin around here. Nate is known for making footwork tracks, frenetic pieces of dance music composed of vocal samples pitched up or down, looped and repeated ad nauseum over stuttering drum thuds and minimal bits of melody. The result is alien and raw, at times dark and druggy, but always completely irresistible to move to. Quick Youtube searches yield many examples of the style of dance, and a vast collection of Nate's footwork tracks, which, along with his countless, extremely limited CD-R releases from over the past five years, have been piling up. (And he's only 20 years old.) Naturally, Planet Mu is all over it, officially releasing 30 DJ Nate songs between this new 12" EP and the upcoming 3xLP full-length.
