Altered Zones

The homies over at Woodsist recently announced a new label imprint called Hello Sunshine. With that announcement comes an entrancing, upcoming record from Portland's Matt Lajoie, aka Herbcraft, titled Ashram To The Stars. The album's final track is burried in a thick fog of strings and tribal thumps that almost seem to force you into a ceremonial dance. Lajoie takes an obvious pleasure in creating what seems like a slight barrage of both electric and acoustic guitars. The track is a deep exploration of sonic ambiance that manages to feel charged and relaxing all at once, a feat that Herbcraft manages to make look simple. --Jheri Evans, Get Off The Coast
