Altered Zones

The morning before we left Barcelona on our last visit, we jammed this classic 1992 track from Frankfurt's Jam & Spoon really loudly off YouTube at Ekhi’s place as the sun was rising and we had just gotten home. I was on his tiny balcony watching swallows fly past and breathing in the air when some neighbors came out and gave me angry faces. So I went inside where we decided it would be okay to let the song play out loud anyway because we were all feeling it so much. Ben found the 12” in Portland almost four years ago and introduced it to us. It’s an early trance anthem, but it’s not the type of trance anthem that makes us uncomfortable. It’s the good kind that feels like falling backwards off of a boat into a dolphin-filled bay, as Sven Vath does in his video for "Esperanza".
