Halloween may be far away, but this ghoulish track from Austin’s Xander Harris keeps its spirit alive and well. A combination of haunting vocal samples and pulsating analog synth tones place this robotic dirge square inside John Carpenter territory-- and, by extension, that of a Gatekeeper or Umberto. “The Hungry Moon” is the jumping off point for Contamination, Harris’s dark new cassette from LA label Complicated Dance Steps. If you like the haunted house atmosphere of this song, then the entire tape will entice your macabre fantasies. --Samantha Cornwell, Visitation Rites
