"Its Twinkle", the first single from the debut album by Japan's Hotel Mexico, is a magnificent trek through the modern (Western) pop/rock spectrum, a shimmering mass of sound revolving around a white-hot opening guitar riff. The song evolves quickly but carefully, layers piled on and taken away in delicate fashion. The band shows off its dynamic range here, finding as much comfort in chaotic guitar/drum/sample patterns as in quieter, angelic vocal breaks. Something about this cut reminds me of Delorean-- it's euphoric, bulging and tangible, never quite bursting at the seams but coming pretty damn close.
