Somewhere in the distance, above the din of the bustling promenade where I'd parked myself on a bench, was the familiar sound of pitch-shifted strings that reminded me of Boards of Canada's "Dawn Chorus." A girl approached the bench and half-smiled at me, politely asking if the bench was occupied before sitting down. She didn't exactly stand out of the crowd, but I had the sneaking suspicion that there was more to her than what sat beside me. I began to hear the light tugs of an acoustic guitar build below those strings and the dreamy daze of the music matched the expression on her face. And then I heard her voice. She was looking down, lost in her book, and it seemed as though she was taking snippets of those lines and putting them to song. She was secretly lovely.
