If you are going to create a fictional persona by the name of Eleanoora Rosenholm to be the name for your band, why shouldn't she be a serial killer housewife on a dark and disturbed odyssey to the heart of the city on a dark star? Noora Tommila, Pasi Salmi, and Mika Rättö (formerly of Circle) that comprise this persona clearly don't shy away from the dramatic in sound, imagery, and concept. This indulgence in drama has produced a mesmorizing video for "Valo kaasumeren hämärässä", the single off their third album on Finland's Fonal RecordsHyväile minua pimeä tähti ('Caress Me, Dark Star'). In this narrow framed video, Tommila is superimposed over fire, bombs, explosions, and other generally disturbing images of destruction. Her fragile voice morphs into hearty chants, and the synths swell until they cannot be blocked out, and by the end we too have joined Eleanoora on her dystopic quest to the heart of the dark star. --Daniel Gottlieb, Altered Zones
