Mark Stewart, founder and vocalist of legendary British post-punk outfit Pop Group, met with Italy's Less TV last month to deliver his first official interview since group disbanded in 1980. The interview took place in a laundromat in Bolognia, and was co-presented by Maps, an independent music show on Città Del Capo Radio Metropolitana directed by Francesco Locane and Jonathan Clancy of A Classic Education and His Clancyiness. "There was a lot left undone," the band declared in a press release for last year's reunion tour, in London, Turin, and Bolognia. "We were so young and volatile....Let's face it, things are probably even more fucked now than they were in the early '80s....and we are even more fucked off!" Click play above to watch Mark expound upon his experiences in the late '70s, the post-punk revival, autonomism, and artists ranging from Lee Perry and King Tubby to the Slits, Bruce Springsteen, and LCD Soundsystem. Part II is available on the Less TV website. --Emilie Friedlander, Altered Zones
