Philadelphia trio Purling Hiss took their ultra-frazzled guitar-rock to Rock Island, Illinois last month to record a three-track session at Daytrotter's Horse Shack studios. Listen to guitarist/frontman Mike Pollize shred his way through "Almost Washed My Hair," "Don't Even Try It," and "Run From The City" on the Daytrotter website, and marvel at the fact that he made it through the day without fainting. --Emilie Friedlander, Altered Zones
